It’s no surprise that all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays can contribute to increased stress levels. Not only does this deplete your energy in the short term, chronic stress has been also been shown to depress the immune system, inhibit tissue repair and growth, impair memory due to the death of brain cells and cause plaque to accumulate on arterial walls. Beyond all of these issues, it makes any attempt to lose weight nearly impossible.
I would like to invite you during this hectic season to take some extra time for yourself. Exercise, journal, meditate and try to breathe a little deeper than you normally do. Family and relationship interactions can sometimes be more emotionally charged, as well. When this happens, some of us may have a tendency to get ‘hooked’ back in our old familiar patterns. I encourage you to make a commitment to yourself to practice healthy boundaries so that you can minimize these unhealthy dynamics, and in turn create space for more supportive interactions. The actions you take today could have a profound effect on your health tomorrow, whether that means six months or 10 years from now.
To further support your well-being, I have recently added a new treatment to my services. It is a 30 minute de-stress acupuncture treatment for only $30. This fast and economical treatment will reduce the stress hormones in your blood and increase the feel good neurotransmitter, serotonin. Squeeze in a session over a lunch hour as a perfect way to ensure that extra few minutes for you to relax and take care of you.
